When Time Stands Still

The seventh and final part in a series of poems on love and longing.  This one is about beauty that can make time stand still.

In a white shirt and blue jeans,
Even from far, beautiful she seemed,
Her laughter and smile felt in the breeze,
Please don’t let my heartbeat cease.

Unexpected and unknown, beautiful and alone,
Under a shroud of mystery, beauty in overtones,
A coy look and a quick fixed gaze,
Is all that is needed to make the heart race.

Who are you? Where did you come from?
What is this beautiful song I hear the birds hum?
Don’t look at me with your hidden glance,
The smile that you try to hide, makes my heart dance.

Your eyes speak more than your words,
Fluttering eyelids, like the flight of a bird,
As you brush past, swathed in silk,
Time stands still, beauty and mystery still a thrill.
