The power of a first impression should never be underestimated. Appearance is the first filter among the many ways in which you get sized up and hence, should never be deemed unimportant. Include the following personal hygiene tips in your daily routine until they become second nature, to appear well-groomed.
1. Shower daily
Take a shower daily and scrub yourself clean with a loofah to get well-exfoliated skin. Opt for mild soaps or shower gels, preferably with moisturizer, so that your skin remains hydrated. Follow the cleansing-toning-moisturizing regime for healthy looking skin.
2. Hair care
To beat the Indian heat, tie up your hair in a bun or a ponytail. Otherwise, you will be fighting a losing battle against unruly, tangled hair. Make sure you visit a salon every three months to get the ends trimmed, so that they don’t split. Also, take vitamin supplements such biotin, to enhance hair growth.
3. Nail care
Short nails appear neater and professional. Go for a mani-pedi at a salon or do it at home. Mani-pedi home sets are easily available in the market these days.
4. Dress appropriately
When it comes to picking out the right attire, dress for your personality. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Yet, remember to dress sensibly, appropriate for the setting, and to wear fresh, clean clothes.
5. Exercise regularly
Being in good shape signals that you know how to take care of yourself. Making regular exercise a part of the lifestyle should be a priority, especially for young women, as it can significantly diminish the chances of developing ailments such osteoporosis in the future. Eating right and taking care of one’s health and wellness are as important as managing a career. Find the right balance.
7. Protect yourself from the sun
Carry an umbrella whenever you step out into sun, whether you have applied sunblock or not. In addition to excessive tanning, direct rays of the sun can cause you more harm than you think.
7. The art of applying makeup
Makeup is not just for celebrities or for special occasions in your life. There is a whole line of everyday cosmetic products out there for young women, to make you look refreshed and professional. Learning to apply the right kind of makeup could be a bit tricky for beginners, but there will always be experts to help you choose just the right kind of makeup. Take advantage of complimentary makeup sessions at a nearby salon or departmental store.
8. Healthy Teeth and Gums
For perfect pearly whites, remember to brush and floss regularly. Do your gums a favor by visiting your dentist and a regular cleaning, every six months, even if you feel that your teeth are fine.
9. Stay organized
Keep all your belongings organized and in place, so that you won’t have to spend precious time searching for things you need. This will boost your efficiency and help you perform at your best, whether it is at the workplace or at home.
10. Carry your essentials everywhere
Whether in a handbag or a clutch purse, carry a small comb, mirror, face wipes, a couple of safety pins, a spare scrunchy and some lip gloss so you can touch up and go back to looking as fabulous as you looked when you walked out of your house in the morning.
