Narendra Modi, Malaika Arora, and Shilpa Shetty are a few celebrities known for their interest in yoga. And this is not including BKS Iyengar, Bikram Choudhury, and Baba Ramdev, who became renowned because of yoga. We hope the Prime Minister’s yoga sessions don’t end with merely leading mass yoga demonstrations on International Yoga Day. It may well be the secret behind his ‘56-inch chest’. Regardless, may he serve as an inspiration for many more to take up yoga starting this week.
Here are other celebrities who may benefit from taking to yoga and who could also inspire others:
1. Mamata Banerjee
From helping her cope with anger issues – more so with doctors in her home state being less available lately – to becoming a more flexible politician, Mamata Banerjee would have a lot of things to thank yoga for, if she were to take it up.
2. Arnab Goswami
Yoga, a natural stress-relieving agent works miracles calming people down. We all know who needs to calm down, don’t we? Arnab Goswami! Yoga should be his chill pill.
3. Robert Vadra
Getting visibly angry at a news reporters, pushing his microphone away, and later sending a security guard to delete the camera footage brought Robert Vadra under the scrutiny of the media and the general public. Taking to yoga might help him manage his anger better the next time instead of resorting to an assault over the press.
4. Lalu Prasad Yadav
Having been convicted for his involvement in the Fodder Scam, Lalu Prasad Yadav could take up yoga and also encourage fellow prison inmates to do so. His leadership on that front will prove to be a blessing not only for him, but also for other frustrated, stressed convicts.
5. Shashi Tharoor
With his natural panache for the English language, constant social media presence and charming features, Shashi Tharoor could well become exemplar extraordinaire for yoga. Let’s say nobody will be lamenting if that were to happen.
6. Mukesh Ambani
If Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani could shed 108 kilos in 18 months, he could too, to get back into shape. And Mukesh bhai can do more than inspire. Why, he could even mandate that his entire Mumbai Indians team takes to yoga off season.
But remember, yoga works best when it’s not merely an International Yoga Day activity, but a daily habit. It can’t entirely offset a poor lifestyle, either. To stay healthy, you may want to follow other health tips as well. For example, Mr. Ambani might benefit from taking the stairs regularly at Antilia!
